Hear From Women in CVI

According to a Violence Intervention Worker Study (VIeWS) conducted by the Center for Neighborhood Engaged Research and Science (CORNERS), as of January 2026 an estimated 15% of professional Community Violence Intervention (CVI) street outreach workers identify as female.
Women are a vital yet underrepresented part of CVI, serving in a variety of roles across the field in research, policy, behavioral health, and boots-on-the-ground roles.
Women in street outreach, victim advocacy, and case management face the added challenge of responding to emergent, often devastating, events in their communities.
Hear from several women across Communities Partnering 4 Peace (CP4P).
Metropolitan Peace Initiatives is proud to celebrate the lives and work of women in Community Violence Intervention (CVI). Read more Women in CVI stories here.
