We Are Our Own Medicine Conference Brings Together Community Stakeholders

The second annual We Are Our Own Medicine Conference was held at BUILD Chicago in the Austin neighborhood. The event brought together various community stakeholders to increase collaboration and learn about different resources in their neighborhood. Attendees heard different perspectives on community safety and potential gun violence reduction solutions.
In addition to a community resource fair, participants also attended different breakout sessions centered around the conference’s theme — “Healing from Within: Community Solutions for a Safer Chicago.” Breakout sessions included topics like re-entry, Community Violence Intervention (CVI), and the role faith-based organizations play in reducing gun violence.
