UCAN’s Edwin Galletti Appointed to Violent Crimes Advisory Commission

Congratulations to Edwin Galletti, UCAN Chicago Vice President of Violence Intervention & Prevention Services, who has been appointed to the Violent Crimes Advisory Commission, representing the Illinois Attorney General’s office.
The Violent Crimes Advisory Commission examines Illinois laws, practices, agencies, and organizations that impact victims of crime, and advocates for legislation that promotes the rights, needs, and interests of crime survivors.
“Edwin’s appointment reflects his personal dedication to violence prevention, victim advocacy, and public policy, and the impact of the transformative work being done every day at UCAN,” the organization said in a statement. “Through his leadership, UCAN has developed comprehensive, trauma-informed approaches to supporting victims of violent crime and interrupting cycles of violence in our communities.
“He brings that same passion and proven expertise to the Commission so that the voices of those most affected by violence are heard and that innovative, community-based strategies remain central to statewide policymaking.”
UCAN is one of 15 organizations representing Communities Partnering 4 Peace (CP4P), convened by Metropolitan Peace Initiatives (MPI). CP4P is a coalition of community-based organizations focused on providing Community Violence Intervention (CVI) in 28 of Chicago’s highest-risk neighborhoods.
