Together Chicago Hosts Near West Side Residents for End of Summer Peace Party

Dad and his sons enjoy street tacos from Together Chicago’s End of Summer Peace Party, an event from Light in the Night series.

Community violence intervention (CVI) professionals from Together Chicago hosted an End of Summer Peace Party in Ellen Gates Starr Park on September 16, 2023 as part of Communities Partnering 4 Peace (CP4P)‘s Light in the Night series to reclaim public spaces.

Community members enjoyed a bounce house, a deejay, a food truck and an ice cream truck as they gathered together to enjoy the warm evening night.

“It’s important to share parks and spaces where kids and families are able to meet up,” said Together Chicago CVI professional Michael Brooks.

One neighborhood dad brought his three young sons to enjoy the festivities after a Monster Truck outing. “They worked up quite an appetite,” he said.

Together Chicago is a proud member of the CP4P collaborative. CP4P is a framework that provides a comprehensive, long-term approach to reducing violence and gang activity among the individuals and communities it serves.
