The University of Chicago to Host Black Women’s Work Symposium
The University of Chicago Crown Family School of Social Work, Policy, and Practice will host a Black Women’s Work Symposium on Friday, December 1, 2023 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Edith Abbott Hall (969 E 60th St).
The event aims to bring together Black women at the university and across the Chicagoland area to “[reflect] on their labor within various dimensions of life, including community, institutions, families, and healing.”
The symposium will include panel discussions throughout the day, breakout sessions and a healing circle, with breakfast and lunch provided. One such panel entitled “Black Women and the Field of Social Work” will feature Metropolitan Peace Initiatives Chief Program Officer Domonique McCord.
Registration is required to attend the event. It is free and open to the public.
