PRESS PLAY: Metropolitan Peace Initiatives Crisis Prevention & Response Unit (CPRU) Prepares for ‘Teen Trend Season

CBS News Chicago recently featured members of the Crisis Prevention & Response Unit (CPRU) team from Metropolitan Peace Initiatives (MPI), a mobile response unit of violence interrupters who have the street credibility to serve Chicago communities at highest risk of gun violence. CPRU Director Sharonda Giles and CPRU Associate Director Rodney Phillips shared how they are preparing for the predicted uptick of teen gatherings downtown, in various Chicago neighborhoods, and on beaches this summer.

“The endgame is to connect them to resources that are going to help their personal development, so we can get them the resources that they need,” said Phillips.
