Participate in #WearOrange This Friday, June 7
Join us on Friday, June 7, 2024 as we come together for Wear Orange, an annual campaign during Gun Violence Awareness Month to honor Chicago’s Hadiya Pendleton. Hadiya was 15 years old when she was shot and killed in 2013. Just one week earlier, she was performing with her high school majorette squad at President Obama’s second inaugural parade.
In response to her death, Hadiya’s family and friends asked others to wear orange to raise awareness about gun violence. Advocates nationwide have taken up the color orange as the color of gun violence awareness and the first Friday in June is now considered National Gun Violence Awareness Day.
Showing your support is as easy as 1-2-3:
1. Take a selfie of yourself wearing orange.
2. Post the picture across your social media platforms and tag Communities Partnering 4 Peace.
3. Include the hashtag #WearOrange.
Let’s unite and bring an end to gun violence.
