MPI and CP4P Lace up for a Good Cause at the 2026 Strides for Peace Race Against Gun Violence

June is National Gun Violence Awareness Month, and in recognition of the observance, Metropolitan Peace Initiatives (MPI) and Communities Partnering 4 Peace (CP4P) came together in strong support of the 13th annual Strides for Peace Race Against Gun Violence in downtown Chicago.
More than 1,300 runners and walkers gathered in Grant Park on June 4 to take part in the race, which featured an 8K run, a 5K run, and a two-mile community walk around the Museum Campus and Lake Shore Drive with beautiful views of Lake Michigan on a late spring evening. Led by MPI Executive Director Vaughn Bryant, MPI and CP4P team members laced up their running shoes and walked or ran alongside fellow advocates in support of the movement to end gun violence.
2026 marked another successful year that MPI and CP4P participated in the race, which brings together advocates, community members, and organizations from across the Chicagoland area. The event raises critical funds and awareness for Community Violence Intervention (CVI) efforts that work to reduce gun violence, support healing, and create safer communities.
MPI is proud to support the event each year through community engagement at our resource table and by joining with participants on the course.
