The Metropolitan Peace Academy (MPA) is now accepting applications for its inaugural cohort of the Metropolitan Peace Academy Management and Supervision Fellowship. This six-month training program is for current mid-level management community violence intervention (CVI) leaders who are seeking professional development in this rapidly growing field.
The program aims to further equip participants in leading community-driven gun violence prevention initiatives, building collaborative networks, fostering positive change, and contributing to a safer and more resilient Chicago. MPA graduates and alumni, as well as community leaders working in gun violence prevention, are encouraged to apply.
The applicant requirements are as follows:
- 5+ years experience in violence prevention
- Prior supervisory experience
- Employed within CP4P partner organizations (and emerging partners)
- Leadership Values and Philosophy
- Industry Knowledge
- References and Recommendations

MPA Management & Supervision Fellowship FAQs
1. What is the purpose of the MPA Management & Supervision Fellowship?
- The MPA Management & Supervision Fellowship aims to empower and equip emerging leaders with the knowledge, skills, and tools needed to reduce violence within their communities.
- It is designed for those individuals who have been recently promoted to a supervisory role and want to improve their leadership capacity.
2. Who can apply for the MPA Management & Supervision Fellowship?
- New supervisors

3. Where will the MPA Management & Supervision Fellowship be held?
- The fellowship will be held at the new Metropolitan Peace Academy location at 2100 S Morgan St, Second Floor.
4. How often will the fellowship meet?
- The fellowship meets two times a month on Friday morning from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for six months (September – February).
5. How long is the fellowship?
- The fellowship is six months long. It will begin in September 2024 and end in February 2025.
6. Is there a virtual option?
- No, individual and group coaching will take place online but the classroom sessions will be in person at the MPA.
7. Are you required to take an exam during the fellowship?
- You are not required to take an exam, but you will have to complete a capstone project.
8. Is there an interview process?
- Yes, if your application is complete, you will be contacted via email with your interview date and time.
9. How many people will be a part of the Fellowship?
- We will select 16 people.
10. When is the application due?
- The application period runs from Monday, July 15, 2024 through Friday, August 16, 2024. All applications must be received by Friday, August 16, 2024 at 5 p.m.
11. How much will it cost?
- The fellowship will cost $7,500 per person. The cost can be split into two payments of $3,250 each.
- The first payment is due on Friday, August 30, 2024 and the second payment is due on Friday, December 6, 2024.
12. What does the Management & Supervision Fellowship include?
- 2 retreats (in September and December)
- 12- three-hour classroom sessions with guest speakers from the field
- 4-Individual online coaching sessions
- 4-Group online coaching sessions
- Myers Briggs Inventory (MBIT) debrief
- Networking opportunities
- Culminating capstone project
- Materials/Supplies
- Snacks for classroom sessions
13. Will breakfast and lunch be served at the in-person classroom sessions?
- No, full breakfast and lunch will not be served, however, we will have snacks and light refreshments.
