Meet ‘Peace Portraits’ Honoree Nekenya Hardy

“Peace Portraits,” presented by the Illinois Peace Project, is a visual project dedicated to spotlighting the incredible individuals making a difference in Illinois within the field of Community Violence Intervention (CVI). This year’s five honorees embody the spirit of “Peace Portraits,” as they work tirelessly to strengthen their communities, empower residents, and inspire change.
Over the coming weeks, the digital series will chronicle five honorees who are fostering peace and harmony in their communities. This week, meet Nekenya Hardy, Associate Director of Outreach and Intervention at the Institute for Nonviolence Chicago (INVC), a partner organization on the West Side of Chicago in the Communities Partnering 4 Peace (CP4P) network. “I realized I had a passion to give back to my community, because I knew I was once a problem of the community,” says Hardy.
