Durbin, Villanueva Meet With CP4P Organizations To Discuss Crime Declines and CVI Funding

On Friday, September 12, 2025, Communities Partnering 4 Peace (CP4P) organizations met with U.S. Senator Dick Durbin and State Senator Celina Villanueva in Little Village to discuss the progress of Community Violence Intervention (CVI) efforts in their area. As reported by WBEZ, Chicago recorded the fewest summer murders since 1965.

The group also discussed recent funding cuts by the Trump administration and the path forward. In a joint Instagram post, Senator Durbin and Senator Villanueva said, “Joined leaders of some Chicago organizations today who are working tirelessly to combat violence in our communities. Despite threats of funding cuts from the Trump Admin, these groups are continuing to ensure our youth’s safety and future success with support and programming.”
