Metropolitan Peace Initiatives (MPI) was among three organizations honored by the Chicago Sports Alliance (CSA) at their “Community Safety Huddle” at the United Center on Wednesday, June 4, 2025.

June is recognized as National Gun Violence Awareness Month, a time to honor gun violence survivors and advocate to put an end to gun violence. Organizations all across Chicago are planning a number of activities across the city and throughout the month.

Metropolitan Peace Initiatives (MPI) joined city officials, local leaders, first responders, and other community organizations for a press conference on Thursday, May 22, 2025 to discuss summer safety plans as Chicago heads into Memorial Day weekend, the unofficial start to summer.

There was a sea of orange down in Springfield, IL as hundreds of Community Violence Intervention (CVI) professionals and advocates from across the Chicagoland area made their voices heard at CVI Rally and Legislative Action Day 2025 on Tuesday, May 13.

Community Violence Intervention (CVI) saves lives, strengthens communities, and prepares the next generation for a safer, more peaceful future. It’s a strategy that’s been proven to work nationwide; in Chicago, we’ve seen CVI efforts prevent hundreds of homicides and shootings across the city. Now, we must do our part to protect it.
