Community members, stakeholders and civic leaders rallied together for the 28th annual Walk for Peace hosted by the Alliance of Social Service Organizations (ALSO) on Saturday, June 3, 2023 in North Lawndale. The event, launched at Orr Academy High School, featured family and youth activities including a barbecue lunch, games, face painting and a bounce house prior to the walk.
Several civic leaders including Deputy Mayor Cristina Paciones-Zaya and U.S. Congressman Danny Davis joined ALSO Executive Director Lori Crowder to celebrate the organization’s 25th anniversary, proudly proclaiming “I am ALSO”
“I am so proud to be standing alongside the people working on the frontlines to keep our communities safe,” said Crowder. “And I am grateful to our community and citywide partners, including Communities Partnering 4 Peace (CP4P), as well as our elected officials and community members for coming out and walking for peace in Chicago.”
