Hundreds of job seekers were in attendance for an employment and resource fair hosted by Think Outside Da Block and Bright Community Services on Thursday, October 2, 2025 at the Ogden Park Fieldhouse in Englewood. Attendees were encouraged to network with potential employers in hopes of finding new opportunities.

The event offered up more than 30 employers, several human resources organizations, on-site resume support, and expungement assistance for formerly-incarcerated individuals.

In speaking with CBS News Chicago, Think Outside Da Block Founder and CEO Pha’Tal Perkins said, “Younger and older adults have been finding it hard to find employment, and so we’ve been helping people individually, but what better [way] than to get all of the employers and resources, as well as people that’s trying to fix their backgrounds [in one room].”

Perkins says Think Outside Da Block will help circulate resumes, for those who were unable to land a job on Thursday, to other employers who weren’t at the event.

Think Outside Da Block is one of 15 organizations representing Communities Partnering 4 Peace, or CP4P, a coalition of Community Violence Intervention (CVI) organizations focused on reducing gun violence in 28 of Chicago’s highest-risk neighborhoods.
