MPI’s Domonique McCord Talks Record Decline in Gun Violence with ABC7

As 2025 comes to a close, Chicago is on pace to record its lowest number of homicides in the past 10 years, ABC7 reports. The decline supports growing evidence that strategies like Community Violence Intervention (CVI) are working to heal Chicago’s communities.
Speaking with ABC7, Domonique McCord, Chief Program Officer at Metropolitan Peace Initiatives (MPI), shared, “One shooting, or one murder is one too many. But when you think about over 10 years, a concerted effort to reduce violence, it’s moving in the direction that we expect.”
